Business Development

Linton is in the middle of the triangle geographically located between Terre Haute (IN), Bloomington (IN) and Vincennes (IN).   Located 12 miles from Indiana Hwy 41; 35 minutes from US I-70 and 40 minutes from IN Hwy 37.  A north-south and east-west rail line and close proximity to area municipal airports make connection with the majority of the U.S. population an easy task.

Linton is served by dependable, city-owned, low-cost utilities.  A strong work ethic provides a dependable work force.  High-speed connectivity is available.  State law and a friendly local government make tax abatement possible.  Available land for industrial, commercial and residential development is priced reasonably.  A business friendly environment is nurtured and supported by local government leadership.

County development is handled by the Greene County Economic Development Corporation (GCEDC).  GCEDC is staffed with professionals who are current in all aspects of business support for location or expansion.  For more information on contact the GCEDC at admin@gcedc.us, view their website at www.gcedc.us or telephone them at 812.847.4500.

Doing Business with NSWC Crane

Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Crane Division in support of the fleet, contracts millions of dollars each year for supplies and services with American companies. The Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act (FASA) of October 1994 created legislation, Federal Regulations, and ultimately Navy policy that allows purchases within the $25,000 threshold to be placed with "local" (Indiana) based companies. It has been determined that many of Crane's requirements can be satisfied by contracting with companies in Indiana and, specifically, those companies that fall within the Crane Regional Economic Development Organization area. NSWC Crane strongly encourages that the CREDO area and Indiana companies be solicited first for requirements that fall within the $25,000 threshold, including Micro Purchases of $2,500 or less, when it is determined to be in the best interest of the Government, and the price is determined to be fair and reasonable.
